Almost every Bali venue and planner sells a "wedding package" — a bundled price covering the ceremony and some combination of vendors. Packages are genuinely useful: they remove decision fatigue, they're usually cheaper than assembling the same list piece by piece, and they mean one point of contact in a country you may never have visited.

They also vary enormously in what they contain. Two quotes at the same headline price can differ by thousands of dollars once you read the inclusions. This page explains what you're actually buying, the 2026 price bands, and the costs that sit outside almost every package.

What a Bali wedding package usually costs

Bands below are for the package itself, excluding flights, accommodation and the extras listed further down. Figures are indicative 2026 market ranges — always get a written quote.

What's normally included

A mid-tier package from an established venue or planner typically covers:

  • Venue hire for the ceremony and reception, for a set block of hours
  • Ceremony setup — aisle, arch or gazebo, seating for your guest count
  • Celebrant or officiant for a symbolic ceremony
  • Basic florals and styling to a set design, with a bouquet and buttonhole
  • Photography, often a set number of hours and a fixed edited-image count
  • Sound system for the ceremony, sometimes a simple PA only
  • Catering at the intimate tier and above — usually a set menu, not a choice
  • A coordinator on the day, though not always a full planner beforehand

What's almost never included — budget for these separately

This is where Bali wedding budgets break. None of the following is typically in a headline package price:

  • Legal marriage — packages sell a symbolic ceremony. A legally binding Indonesian marriage is a separate process with its own fees and paperwork. See our guide to getting married in Bali legally.
  • Tax and service charge — commonly 21% (11% VAT + 10% service) on venue and catering. On a $30,000 package that is $6,300 nobody mentioned.
  • Guest transport — Bali traffic is severe. Shuttles for 60 guests between accommodation and a clifftop venue is a real line item.
  • Videography — usually a paid add-on even when photography is included.
  • Hair and makeup for anyone but the bride — mothers and bridesmaids are priced per face.
  • Upgraded florals — the included florals are a base spec. Most couples upgrade.
  • Extended hours — going past the contracted finish time is charged hourly.
  • Welcome dinner and day-after brunch — separate events, separate cost.
  • Entertainment beyond a DJ — live bands, Balinese dancers, fire performers.

A realistic rule: add 25–40% to the package price to reach your true spend. For a fuller breakdown, read what a Bali wedding really costs.

Package or book vendors yourself?

Neither is automatically better. The honest trade-off:

PackageBooking vendors directly
CostUsually cheaper at the same specCan be cheaper if you negotiate well
EffortLow — one contract, one contactHigh — 6–10 separate bookings
ControlLimited; swaps often cost extraTotal — you choose every vendor
Quality consistencyOnly as good as the weakest bundled vendorYou can make every choice on merit
Best forElopements, intimate weddings, tight timelinesCouples with strong preferences, or 60+ guests

The common middle path works well: take a venue package for the things that are hard to arrange remotely — venue, catering, sound, coordination — and book the creative roles yourself, where the difference between a good and a mediocre supplier is most visible in the result.

That's usually the photographer, videographer, hair and makeup artist and florist. We list 314 vendors across 186 venues and eight other categories, so you can compare directly.

Questions to ask before signing

  • Is the quoted price inclusive of the 21% tax and service charge, or plus?
  • Exactly how many hours of venue hire, and what does going over cost?
  • Which named vendors are in this package — can I see their recent work?
  • Can I substitute a bundled vendor for my own, and what's the deduction?
  • What is the wet-weather plan, and is the covered space included or extra?
  • What's the deposit, payment schedule and cancellation policy, in writing?
  • Is this a symbolic or legal ceremony, and what's included either way?
  • What's the guest minimum or maximum, and the per-head rate beyond it?

Get every answer in writing before you pay a deposit. A package that won't name its vendors is a package you can't evaluate.

Packages by area

Where you marry changes what a package costs and what it can include:

  • Uluwatu — clifftop chapels and ocean backdrops. Premium pricing, and the drive matters for guest transport.
  • Ubud — jungle and rice-terrace settings. Strong value, cooler, further from the airport.
  • Seminyak — beach clubs and villas, walkable to guest accommodation and restaurants.
  • Nusa Dua — resort weddings with the most predictable logistics for large guest counts.
  • Canggu — relaxed villa and beachfront weddings, popular for younger guest lists.

Compare the areas properly in our hotspot comparison, and once you've settled on an area, work out where your guests should stay.

Start comparing

The fastest way to sanity-check any package quote is to price the same vendors individually. Browse every vendor in the directory by category, area and budget, send two or three enquiries in each category, and compare what comes back against your package inclusions.

If you're at the very start, the budget estimator will give you a realistic total for your guest count before you talk to anyone.
