Flowers do more emotional work at a Bali wedding than almost any other element. But Bali is not a forgiving climate for florals, and the vendors who do this well have built their craft around working with the island rather than against it.

The heat and humidity factor

Tropical heat and humidity are the single biggest variable in how your flowers will look and last on the day. This is a big enough topic that it deserves its own space — see our dedicated blog post on Bali's climate and florals for the full breakdown. Ask your florist how they manage late-day assembly and on-site cooling.

Local vs. imported flowers

Local and tropical flowers — frangipani, heliconia, bird of paradise, orchids — tend to hold up better in the heat and give florals a genuine sense of place. Imported flowers — peonies, garden roses, hydrangea — let you match a specific palette but are more heat-sensitive and exposed to shipping delays. A lot of the most striking Bali florals blend the two.

How to brief a florist well

Bring reference photos, not just flower names. Describe the feeling, not just the flowers — "wild and loose" vs "structured and formal." Share your ceremony time and sun exposure, and give a realistic guest count and venue layout early.

What's typically included — and what's often an add-on

Typically core: bridal and bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, ceremony arch florals, table centerpieces, aisle décor. Often quoted separately: delivery/setup/breakdown, preservation services, extra installations like flower walls.

When to book

Start reaching out 4-6 months ahead for a standard package, and closer to 8-12 months if you want a large-scale installation or a specific imported flower during Bali's peak season.

Questions to ask before you book

  1. How do you handle heat and humidity — when do arrangements get assembled?
  2. What's the split between local and imported flowers, and what if a shipment is delayed?
  3. Is delivery, setup, and breakdown included?
  4. Can you work from reference photos and substitute intelligently if a flower isn't available?
  5. Do you offer bouquet preservation?
  6. How far in advance do you need my final brief locked in?
